Summary of seminars

The seminar Recycling of Solid Domestic Waste which has taken place in Kochubei Palace, Pushkin on 20 July 2006 is one of the project tools used for creation of long-term strategies towards improving the standards of waste treatment in St. Petersburg by enhancing transfer Swedish know-how and experience.

Acting as a forum for discussing the Municipal Plan of Actions the seminar also supports the dissemination of progressive ideas and standards in waste management area among the persons in leading and strategic positions and decision-makers in Pushkin and St. Petersburg.
The seminar has gathered professionals within waste management, communal services, and international project management.
The following subjects were discussed during the seminar:
- The Project's presentation - main goals and objectives. The importance of an international know-how exchange
- Presentation of modern waste management systems - importance of legislation basis, producers' responsibility, technical innovation serving progressive waste management techniques;
- The current state of waste management in Pushkin, main problem areas, future development, need of international support;
- The overall development in Pushkin till 2010, when city celebrates its 300 year anniversary - main goal of achieving European living standards including waste management sphere, as a part of eco-friendly environment and municipal improvement;
- Challenges and opportunities of international projects, their efficient management step-be-step
