Study trip

In the frame work of the project’s realisation the visit of Vyacheslav Kprzov, the 1st deputy head of administration and Vasily Kisilev, director of GUZHA of Pushkin District to Stockholm and Älvsbyn was organised.

The main objective of the study trip was to get acquainted with modern waste management systems, negotiations and experience exchange in the described sphere. Two systems of waste management were presented to the delegation: one for the large cities with more that 1 million inhabitants and the other for the cities with not more 150 thousand inhabitants.

The first system was studied through the SDW management in Stockholm. The visitors have investigated the whole waste life-circle – starting from side-curb container area to the recycling area for waste and waste sorting plants.

The second system was studied in Älvsbyn, where the visitors investigated the separate waste collection system which is used in smaller towns.


During the visit the participants has met Mr. Mathias Skoglund, business consultant of IL Recycling and confirmed his participation in the waste management seminar which will take place in Pushkin in June 2006.

There was a meeting in Älvsbyn with the Swedish Project coordinator Per Nilsson, who is also the Head of Development Department in Älvsbyn Administration and with other representatives of the Municipality. During the meeting the further steps towards the project’s development and perspectives of further partnership and cooperation were discussed.

Summarising the results of the study trip the participants point out the importance of acquainting with Swedish experience and know-how in practice; and readiness of the Swedish partner to mutual cooperation and further partnership.
